Iowa, playdates, etc.

I have been kind of a slacker updating my blog. Kajsa was sick with the flu last week, which ended up with an ear infection and plus she is getting some molar teeth. So she sure hasn't been herself lately and I can't wait to get the happy, fun-loving girl back! So I am updating my blog with some things I have gotten to do in the past month. At the beginning of August, I got the chance to drive to Iowa with my parents and sister to attend my oldest nephew's baptism. I got it all arranged so that Kajsa was with her Aunt Jenny or her Farmor Christel (grandma) when Simon was working. We left on Thursday night and drove all the way to Grimes, Iowa and arrived on Friday afternoon. We got to see the pretty countryside of Iowa, not to mention a ton of corn fields (the Pioneer seed company fields did look the best David!). Then on Saturday it was Cole's baptism. I was so glad that I got a chance to be there for his special day. I still can't believe he is 8 years old! WOW! Then after we went to church on Sunday, we drove home all through the night and got home Monday afternoon. It was fun to see David, Sherrie, and the kids again.

Kajsa and I have had some fun hanging out with some of my friends and their kids. At the end of July we went to Laura's house (a college roommate) to hang out with her and Ariana. They are only 6 weeks apart and although they seemed to be shy at first, I think they ended up having fun.
I think Kajsa could have sat all day on Ari's little Dora couch. She seemed to know how to lay back and relax! :)

Then last week Kajsa and I met up with some of my high school friends. Shawna, Jacob, and Gavin came and picked up Kajsa and I and then we went to Sara's house to play! Rahndi also came with her cute new baby Levi. Kajsa did not want to join in on the swimming part of it, but she wasn't shy about eating!

Sara's 4 year old Abby was so nice to share her fun pool with everyone.

And the cute little Gavin and Levi had fun watching!

Fun at the Rodeo

Last weekend Kajsa and I went to Burley for the Cassia County Fair and Rodeo. (Simon had to work :( , so he stayed home) It is a tradition of my family's to go because my dad is on the fairboard and we all love to watch him come in during the grand entry at the rodeo. (Plus we just love him and want to support him!) Kajsa got to wear some cute red cowgirl boots that she borrowed from her cute cousin Abigail. We had a lot of fun hanging out with the fam and as you can see on the way home Kajsa was pretty zonked out!

Neighborhood Play

Some of the kids in our neighborhood decided to put on a play.
They had been working on it for about a week and half. Jessica, the 12 year old drama enthusiast, was the director and she had all the costumes and such. The play they did was Aladdin. I felt so honored that they invited us to come watch. We were the only non-family there.

They even served us pink lemonade and popcorn. Kajsa enjoyed it also and sat and watched the whole thing. I hope you can tell from the pictures which characters they are. The last picture is Kajsa with her friend Zack. He loves giving her hugs and holding her hand. Awwww....how cute!

Little Miss Independent

The past week Kajsa has been showing a little bit of independence. She wouldn't eat unless she could hold her own utensil and try feeding herself. Which is fine by me, but there is some food I like to feed her because I hate cleaning up the messes. Oh well! Time to let her grow up and for me to deal with the messes. The thing was that the only kid friendly forks I had were the silly plastic forks that don't stab into food very well. So she didn't get much accomplished and it made her more upset. So today I finally got the kid friendly utensils that are metal and have a kid friendly handle. She actually did really well. I guess Ravioli just makes a mess no matter what! I missed the part where her lunch made it above her eye. At least she was happy!!
