Silly Billy Brynn

I am trying to be better at writing the fun things Kajsa and Brynn do. Since this is pretty much my journal and I have some time, I thought I better get caught up a little.

Brynn's personality is really starting to show. She is still such a good baby and gives the best smiles. About a month and a half ago she rolled over onto her tummy for the first time, but absolultely hated it. Now she is doing it and loves the new view. We just need to work on the rolling back to her back position. She loves taking baths and getting her diaper changed. She is so content when doing those things. I started to give her some rice cereal for the first time the other day and she wasn't too thrilled. In fact, she was spitting up the rest of the day. So I will attempt that again soon. She loves to coo and baby talk. Especially at church during Sunday School. I don't know if it is because Simon is teaching the lesson so she hears him talking or what. So I take her out and then she is quiet. I usually can get her to laugh, but not like Kajsa can. Watch the attached video. It is so funny. Brynn LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Kajsa. I will be feeding Brynn and then Kajsa starts talking and she immediately has to look around to find where Kajsa is. It is so funny. The other day I was burping Brynn and Kajsa came in and knew she needed to whisper because I had been feeding Brynn. Kajsa said something to me and immediately Brynn looks around to find Kajsa and has a huge smile on her face. It was the cutest thing ever. I hope that they become the best of friends as they grow up. It is fun to see Brynn playing and interacting with toys more. They can actually keep her entertained for a bit. But I think her hands are her most favorite of all. I love the age Brynn is at right now and what she continues to keep learning.

Tummy Time!!!

First spoon of cereal!!! Not quite sure what to think!

Hmmm...I am not sure I like this.

Kajsa wanted to help. I think Brynn is thinking, "What!?! I thought you were on my side!"

This video just makes my day! My two girls making each other laugh! What a joyous sound!!!

Silly Billy Kajsa

Kajsa reading the sale ads at breakfast. I guess she thought she needed her glasses like Grandma needs her glasses to read.
(Note: Grandma doesn't wear sunglasses to read)

It is so amazing to me at what a 2 year old can pick up from your vocabulary. Kajsa has been picking up on a lot and it is fun to see what she says in her everyday conversations! When she does silly things I sometimes call her "silly billy". Now we all get called "silly billy." The other day we were watching 'Beauty and the Beast'. We were to the part where it shows the Beast and the magic rose dropping it's petals . Kajsa said, "He sad. And the flower is sad too." I responded back to her by saying, "Ya, the flower is sad." She quickly replies, "No, silly billy mamma, the flower not sad." Brynn gets called, "Silly billy Brynn." and Simon gets called, "Silly billy pappa." She doesn't think twice when saying it and it is pretty funny.

One Sunday I was getting dressed for church and Kajsa was so excited that I was putting on a dress. She is so much into princess things and she loves dresses. As soon as I got my skirt on she said, "Princess dress mamma, dance!" Dance means to twirl around in my dress like a princess I suppose. So I did it for her and she loved it. So I said to her to dance in her dress. She looked down at her dress and said very disappointed, "No princess dress, no dance." and then planted her sad little face into my bed. It was true she didn't really have a "princess dress" on. It wasn't frilly enough to "dance in". We haven't pushed any princess things on Kajsa. She has loved it all on her own. She doesn't even have many princess type toys. I guess that proves she is totally a girly girl and we love it!

Today Simon came home for lunch and we were hugging before he left. Kajsa was still sitting at the table eating her lunch and she said, "Hugging....in kitchen." We both chuckled a little and then she continued to growl at us. She knows that her growl can really get us to laugh.

Kajsa's favorite song is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. She can pretty much recite it word for word. I love to ask her to help me sing it to Brynn. Now when she sees a star anywhere, it is not just a star, but a twinkle star. It is so cute.

When Kajsa is having a tantrum, I have learned that I just need to let her be and the tantrum will end a lot sooner. (Plus I don't get kicked when trying to pick her up and console her) Sometimes I just leave the room and go about with what I was doing. Lately when I do this, I will hear her stop and then come running while saying, "I happy mamma." Sure has made dealing with the tantrums a whole lot easier.

Some milestones that Kajsa has achieved that are just so cute, and maybe they are silly to be considered milestones, are that as of today she can put on her own pants by herself. With a little help to get them on over the diaper and button them of course. It was so cute when she did it. She knew that she had accomplished something awesome. (In her world and mine!) Also a couple days ago, she started wanting to say the prayer without any help. She has done pretty well. You can understand the Heavenly Father part, then there is some mumbling, and then you hear "Jesus, AMEN!" What a big girl she is becoming!

Kajsa is becoming more and more quite the little helper around the house. When I give Brynn a bath, Kajsa is right there beside me to help. The part she loves to help with is washing Brynn's hair. She puts her hand in the water and then gets Brynn's hair wet. That is pretty much it, but she feels like she is helping so much. This morning Brynn was sitting in her bouncy chair and I was in the other room. I came back to see Kajsa rubbing Brynn's head. I said, "Oh are you playing with Brynn's hair?" She said, "I washing her hair. It crazy." She got the crazy part from me. Brynn's got some crazy hair. She has a good spot of hair on the crown of her head where her calic is and it is about 2 inches long. The other parts of her hair is kind of curly, but frizzy and so sometimes it is all over the place. So I will say "Brynn's got crazy hair" to Kajsa. I'm pretty sure she doesn't even know what crazy is. haha!

She has always been pretty good about smiling or posing when I want to take a picture of her. But this past week every time she sees the camera come out she says, "NO picture!" and then she whines until the camera is set down. I don't know what has gotten into her. Maybe the thousands of pictures I have taken of her has taken quite a toll on her.

She LOVES to count to ten. She has gotten so good at it and I am so proud of her. I am starting to work on the 11-20 numbers. But she usually says to me, "No mamma." I will just keep on working on it with her and then she will love those numbers as well.

Kajsa is so possesive of people these days. Whenever someone is at our house and then leaves (eg: Grandma, Poppy, Farmor, Farfar, Uncle Rik, Björn, Aunt Jenny, Paul, Korrine, Lisa, etc. all of her favorite people) she throws a fit. She is happy while saying bye to them, then the tantrum comes. Some fits are bigger than others depending on her mood. Then she cries, "MY (insert name here)! Where did MY (insert name here) go? I want MY (insert name here)!" The names I mentioned are just some of the regulars, but I am sure if some non-regulars came by she would do the same thing!

Silly billy Kajsa!!! She is at such a fun age right now. She is learning so much and such a joy and blessing in our home!

Brynn: 4 months old

Brynn had her 4 month well check this week. I was so anxious to see how well she was growing. She weighed 11 lbs. 13 ozs. (15th percentile) and is 25 inches long (80th percentile). It looks like she is following the same growing pattern that Kajsa did at that age. I guess I am just bound to have small kids. I compared their stats again and Kajsa again weighed 1 oz. more than Brynn did at this check up. Brynn is still such a great baby. She is so easy to get to laugh and I just love the way her face lights up when I get her up from her naps. She is SO happy! She loves watching Kajsa run around and follows her every move. If Kajsa is in the room when I am feeding her, it takes her a minute to focus and eat. I can't wait until she can play more with Kajsa and I think that they will be good friends as they get older. She is getting much of her coordination now and likes to play with little teething toys. She has always enjoyed taking baths and getting her diaper and clothes changed. She even giggles when I take her clothes off. I think she is a little ticklish. I guess she loves the extra attention! When I put her in her bouncer she always tries to sit up. She definitely has abs of steel from that workout! I am so grateful for her sweet countenance and she helps me remember the simple pleasures in life everyday!

Warning: Long post

Disclaimer: Since our blog is somewhat of our journal, that is why I am writing this post. It might not be that interesting to you, but I wanted to have it written down.

With a lot of people making their blogs private lately, I totally understand. I mean, there are a lot of weirdos out there and you can never be so sure who is looking at your day to day entries. Don't you just wish that it could be that easy to ensure that your house is private! Here is what I am getting at... Last week we had a little visitor come to our house when we weren't home! (I would have written about this earlier, but it has taken me this long to feel okay enough to write it down.) Last Tuesday afternoon I packed up the girls and we went to pick up Simon at work to go to South Valley's graduation (where Simon taught last year). We enjoyed our time there and then we went out to dinner with a friend. After dinner we still had to go to the District Office to drop off Simon to pick up his motorcycle. The girls and I followed him home. When we got home Kajsa wanted to play outside, so we just hung out and in the meantime a neighbor came over and we were talking. So we were outside for about a half hour. Then we decided it was getting late and needed to get the girls to bed, so we went inside. When I walked into the front room I noticed that the front door was a little ajar. Simon and I thought that was strange since we don't use our front door to come and go. But what was weird was that both doors were unlocked. We always have the front doors locked. I just shrugged it off and locked them then walked into our bedroom. That is when my whole body went numb! Our room had been ransacked and our clothes were thrown all over the place and drawers dumped out everywhere. I said to Simon, who wasn't far behind me, "Someone has been in our house." I kept repeating it over and over. I was in such shock. Simon being much more composed said, "Let's get out of the house and call the police. Don't touch anything!" As we were on our way out, I noticed that in the girls room, the lamp was knocked over, but it looked like nothing else was touched. So we got outside and called the police. They came pretty quick, but while we were waiting I started going to all our neighbors and asking them if they had seen anything or anyone suspicious in our neighborhood that afternoon. (We were gone between 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Only 4 hours in broad daylight!!!) No one had seen anything! So Simon checked the whole house with the cop while the girls and I were at a neighbors house. The intruder had kicked in our side door busting up the inside of the frame and leaving a nice shoe print on the outside. (we had to get a new door) and then proceeded to go through everything in our bedroom and our kitchen cupboard with our vitamins and medicine. Then they must have walked out the front door hence why it was ajar. They didn't even go downstairs or touch anything else that we can tell. (Except they thought they needed to knock over the lamp in the girls room. That just added insult to injury!) They obviously had a plan of what they were looking for. They were probably quick in and out. So from what we can tell, they took a bottle of Lortab I had from after having Brynn, but I had never taken one so it was a full bottle. I also had a few pills of Tylenol with codeine left over from when I had my bad toothache at the end of my pregnancy. Those were in the kitchen cupboard, but we found the bottles empty in our room. They didn't take any checks or anything. We suspect that they were after drugs and money. Luckily, I didn't have any cash laying around or hidden. They even messed up our bed looking for stuff. The mattress and sheets were messed up. The only thing the cop could do for us is give us a case number for insurance purposes. They didn't take fingerprints or anything because he said that this happens alot. Well, thanks! He said they would just try to patrol our neighborhood more. It is hard to want to leave again in fear that someone will do this again, but then I am so grateful that I wasn't home with my girls in case they still would have wanted to come in. We have been thinking of hundreds of scenarios of who this person is and why they choose our house and so on, but that just makes us even more upset and it just isn't worth that. I am grateful that none of us were home and that they didn't take anything that was of great worth to us. I didn't want to write this to make anyone nervous, it is more to journal it, but has actually helped me feel a little better. Just remember to deadbolt and lock your doors no matter whether you are home or not.

Relaxing

This is how I find Brynn a majority of the time when she is sleeping. With her hands behind her head! She looks pretty relaxed doesn't she? It fits her personality... laid back and easy going.
