The past couple of days as I have been watching the news and their coverage on President Hinckley, I have been contemplating everything he has done for the church. He was truly a great man and leader of the church. Then I remembered something. It was our ward conference on Sunday and of course they did the usual sustaining of the church leaders in Sacrament meeting. I really like this part because we don't get the chance to raise our hand every Sunday and sustain the prophet and so it is really important to me. I realized that Sunday was the last time I got to sustain Gordon B. Hinckley as the Prophet of our church. I am glad I got the chance to do that one last time. At first I was very saddened by his passing, but just like my sister-in-law said, "He doesn't want us to be sad!". He will forever have a legacy that will live on!

Just Hangin' Around
Well, there just isn't much going on right now, so there hasn't been much to post. I am just counting down the days until the baby comes and it seems like that is never going to come, then I look at the countdown and it says 11 days left until my due date! Gosh! I am ready, bring it on! Especially now that I had to have a root canal done this morning, so I shouldn't have any more problems...knock on wood! Kajsa and I have just been taking it easy and I am enjoying her so much everyday. She is talking up a storm lately and I love to see her enthusiasm to learn. I have been working on colors with her a little and the only one that she really has down pat is PINK!!! She is definitely all girl! But maybe it is because she does have a lot of pink stuff! She is such a good little helper too. She puts things away when asked (for the most part), she loves to dance, and she sure is being a good little mommy to her baby dolls. She shares her sippy cup with them and makes sure they have a blanket on them and makes them dance with her. It is fun to watch. I think that she will be a wonderful big sister when the baby comes. So that is pretty much what is going on here. Hopefully we will have some more exciting news soon!

Christmas 2007

Well, it is already a week into 2008 and I am finally getting around to writing about Christmas. We had a great Christmas this year spending time with both our families. I was so excited to have Simon home for a week and a half, but he ended up being home a few days before he was supposed to with appendicitis. He dealt with the pain for 2 1/2 days before we decided that maybe it wasn't just indigestion and all the symptoms led to signs of appendicitis. So the Thursday before Christmas he was in the emergency room and on his way to surgery. From the CT scan the doctor and nurses thought the appendix might be on the verge of bursting, but during surgery it didn't look like that, so they took the appendix out and now all is well. He didn't even have to stay overnight. It was a little slow around here with me being almost 8 months pregnant and Simon not being able to lift anything and both of us trying to keep a toddler entertained. But we managed, Kajsa understood that pappa had an "ouch" and she was content that I was the only one able to play and pick her up. We are grateful that he is doing better, but he still needs to take it easy, so no soccer for another week or so. We still were able to enjoy the Christmas festivities.
We spent Christmas Eve with the Östheds and got to enjoy a Norwegian Christmas dinner. Simon's sister-in-law is from Norway and her mother was here visiting. They put on a wonderful feast. It was so yummy. Then we played games, had the Jultomten (Scandinavian Santa) come and bring gifts to the kids, and enjoyed each other's company. It snowed a lot that night, so it was nice to wake up to a white Christmas. We just hung out at home Christmas day and Kajsa opened her presents. Then that Friday we headed up to Idaho to spend time with the Bowens. All of my siblings were home and it was fun to be all together again. The house was a little crazy with six silly grandkids running around, but they all had fun playing together. We also got together with the Bowen cousins for the annual White Elephant. It was pretty low-key this year. We got a picture of the great-grandkids that were there, but we were still missing about 1/2 of them. We came back on Monday and enjoyed time at home until Simon had to get back to work. Now I am trying to get everything in place for when baby girl #2 arrives. One month to go! Yikes!
